I was digging around for stuff to bring out to Patchwork and came across these old labels. We're going to use some of these older styles to make Seatbelt Bookmarks for the event.

Bring It!
Hey OC Neighbors! Meet us @ ANGELS STADIUM, this Saturday May 29th from 11:30 to 1:00pm for a good ole fashioned Tailgate Party with some Hotdogs Grillin' & Sodas popping. Just Look for the HARVEYS VAN. Bring out your Grand Slam Seatbeltbag or any HARVEYS Seatbelt bag and we'll give you one of these.
Love Me, Tees Me
On June 5th Grand Central Art Center (GCAC) will be hosting a very special Tee Shirt art show called "<3 Me Tees Me". My Friend Ryan Bryant is curating it and invited me to be an artist along with some other Harveys Artists: Sid, Gary Baseman and Mustachio (Cody Lusby). If you have a chance stop by it's from 7-10pm Saturday June 5th and runs through July 3rd. GCAC is located at 125 N. Broadway Santa Ana, CA 92701. The event is the evening before Patchwork so if you're in town you can come to both. Here are the flyers for the show. They're cut in the shape of a Tee Shirt. Pretty cool.
Ryan Bryant has done a lot of screen printing for us. His company is called Graham Street Press. He did all of the "I am a seatbelt bag" totes that were printed on site at last year's Patchwork event. He'll also be at this coming Patchwork printing HARVEYS special event Tees.
Hope you can make it out to at least one of these great events.

STICK IT!
It's National Seatbelt Awareness week and that's a big deal for us. A while back we asked you to vote for your favorite bumper sticker and this was the winner.
This week we're giving them away free with any purchase on the website or any of our retail stores.
I stuck mine on the back window instead of the bumper but it works just the same. I'm going to bring some out to patchwork too.

Patchwork Update
Before we made Harveys Seatbeltbags, Melanie collected vintage handbags. Some of her favorites were made by Enid Collins. Her designs are very inspirational. Just like our LTD edition bags that come with fun themes and names Enid Collins named all of her bags too. I came across this one from Melanie's collection named Patchwork. A great reminder to come out to Patchwork on June 6th and Meet Melanie and find out more about how we come up with new ideas for bags and join our focus group to preview and comment on upcoming bags for 2011.
Airstream
We finished decorating the HARVEYS Airstream just in time for the Lemans car race in Monterey, California this weekend where it will be on display along with our bags. Here's a few shots of us decorating it. If you can't make it out this time don't worry, we'll be trailering out to an event near you soon.
Airstream trailers are made with aluminum which makes them very light as illustrated in this picture (below) taken in the 1940's of one being towed by a bicycle. Just like our bags the design remains unchanged yet still looks as modern today as it did then.
We bought this one new in 2007. Before that we had a vintage one from 1966 (below) which we used for this advertisement photo in 2005
I first fell in love with Airstreams in the 1980's when I spotted one in Cindy Lauper's video, Time after Time. I didn't know what an Airstream was back then but I just thought it looked so cool

Happy Birthday Ashley
Ashley, from our Marketing team, turned 25 this week. We celebrated by decorating her desk with her favorite drink: Diet Coke. Instead of a birthday cake Malia whipped up some SMORES! yum. I don't know how she did it with only a microwave and a toaster oven but I have to admit it tasted great even without the campfire. Happy Birthday Ashley.

Stamp Collecting
Every LTD edition bag comes with a cardboard hangtag with a custom hand-stamped name icon. We've collected these stamps over the years and thought it would be fun to bring them out to Patchwork to show and perhaps use to make pocket mirrors. Here's just a few that we dug up. There will be lots of other fun things to see and do at Patchwork. Oh yeah, don't forget to bring out any Harveys bags that you might want to trade.

Home Run
Today we launched the Grand Slam bags.
We got a lot of request for a Baseball themed bag which was a really great idea and we had actually been working on some fun team color combos so we though it would be a perfect opportunity to have some fun. We added a baseball inspired lining with hand printed baseballs and bats and a D-ring to attach your favorite team flare.
My home is about 3 miles from Angel Stadium, close enough to hear the fireworks go off whenever there's a home run. What better way to celebrate the season than a HARVEYS tailgate party at an upcoming game and invite you all to come out. Stay tuned for a date.
BTW the blue in the blue and white bag is actually a brand new color for us that we're calling Cobalt Blue.

Chino Hills Mother's Day Event
On Saturday we went out to celebrate Mothers Day early at the Chino Hills store. It was so great to see all the Moms with their families.
We raffled off a Mother Lode of of prizes. There were lots of happy winners.
My two little girls came with us of course and gobbled up the delicious chocolate strawberries.
It was so great to see a plethora of past HARVEYS bags
This Mother and daughter each won a prize and dad showed up later and he won a prize too.
This was a great way to keep your keys from getting lost. She hooked this retractable gadget on her interior D-Ring.
Lacey brought her Cherry Bomb LTD. One of the very first LTD's
Melanie poses with her Bon Voyage rope tote next to the Skully rope tote.

Happy First Friday
The past few weeks have been busy, busy, busy. We put up new window displays at the retail stores, shipped out the new bags to our stores, finished up the last details on the mustache totes, wrapped all of the prizes for the Mother's day event raffle and Ashley even handmade colored Mustache chocolate pops for the art show tonight. Here's a few pictures I took this morning while everyone was getting ready. Hope to see you at Melrose or Chino Hills this weekend and Happy Mothers day girls.

New Print on the Block
As a teenager I often spent my summer vacations working with my uncle, building with bricks and cinder blocks. This gave me a great appreciation for decorative blocks especially in Mid-Century Modern architecture. Each block has a shape that adds to an overall pattern once it's assembled. Some people will see a particular shape within the pattern and others will see a whole different shape in the same pattern.
On a recent family vacation to Palm Springs, California (the Mecca of Mid-Century Modern Design) I was inspired by a Lattice Block wall and thought it would make an amazing print for our bags.
The Lattice print releases this coming First Friday and I'm very excited because we've done something with this print that we've never done before. Hmmm... I wonder, what could it be? Well, here are some of my favorite examples of Mid-Century Modern Block Designs.
