Coo-coo for CROC

The girls in the office are LOVING our new Croc print, so I asked them to put together a few outfits so you can see what they would pair with their Croc Seatbeltbag!

Our Assistant Designer, Cheryl, paired a black & white zigzag printed top and teal colored pants with the Croc Large Belle, a neutral wedge shoe, and long gold necklace. All from Modcloth.

Our Marketing Assistant, Amanda went for a girly look with this polka-dot dress and jacket.  She accessorized with an owl necklace, wedges, and of course the adorable Croc Bow Arm Candy Clutch.

Our National Sales Representative, Allison, put together the perfect outfit for a weekend lunch date. The chambray top is way in right now and the scarf and Croc Large Tote add some color to this comfortably casual look.

What would you pair your Croc Seatbeltbag with?

Fur Friday - Christmas Tree

I received this picture from Staci I. of her beloved Miki, posing with a very special Christmas Tree.
She wrote:

My Miki loved your Seatbelt bag ornament so much she had my sister and me make her a "HARVEYS" tree where she can put her Christmas presents and birthday gifts. Here's a picture of her & her tree, sneaking a peek at her presents. Most dogs get excited at hearing the word "treat" or seeing the container, well Miki on the other hand gets excited when she hears "Harvey's" or sees one of your boxes or bags.  ;) She idolizes Rocky since he was a cute Harvey's model.

Wishing you & your family a Happy Harvey'sday/holiday!
Staci I.

Thank you so much Staci and Miki. This picture is so adorably cute, I just had to share it with everyone. In fact, I loved it so much, I'm sending you the mini seatbeltbag from our very own tree, to give to Miki. I guess we'll have to make some more for next year.
If you have a picture of your furry friend on, in or beside a Seatbeltbag, we'd love to see it. Please send them to info@seatbeltbags.com.

DIY: Harveys inspired gift wrap

Our amazing Graphic Designer Nancy Chiu came up with this adorable Harveys inspired gift wrap idea just in time for the Holidays! And guess what, she's broken it down so you can do it yourself.

Step 1: Cut out a 3" band of paper. Make sure it is long enough to wrap around the box you intend to decorate. This way you can hide the seam on the bottom.
Step 2: Wrap the band tightly around the box. Mark the top edges of the box on the band (I'm using white pencil so that the marks are more visible on the paper). This is the area where you'll be making the weave.
Step 3: Fold the band along the white marks firmly. Now you can see a clear area for the weave. Start making slits every half an inch.
Step 4: Now that you have the slits, you're ready to weave! Cut out five paper strips that are half an inch wide. Weave them through the slits, alternating the weave of each strip. Repeat until you finish all the strips.
Step 5: When you're done with the weave, secure it with tape on the back. Then, trim off the excess.
And voila! Wrap it around any gift to make it extra dressy and extra Harveys!
Happy Holidays!

xoxo,
Nancy

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire

When brainstorming Holiday 2012 we found Chestnut, a beautiful cinnamon-brown color. And of course the name had us all singing the song "chestnut's roasting on an open fire..." So we thought it would be fun to actually roast some chestnuts. After looking at recipes I decided to take on the task, because it seemed pretty easy. It turned out to be a little more challenging than I anticipated...

Here is the "simple" recipe:

Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F.

Wipe the chestnuts off with a damp towel and set them on a towel or cutting board flat side down. As you can see a few of my chestnuts were flat on both sides. I ended up throwing them out.

With a small, sharp knife cut an X in each chestnut. This was tricky, if you don't cut deep enough the chestnuts could explode in the oven (which happened with a few of mine). So, the best way to cut them is to poke a hole in the middle, then add the cuts from there. And trust me, you want to make sure they are deep enough, exploded chestnuts make a mess!

Place the chestnuts in a baking pan. Then place them in the oven for 20-30 minutes checking them at 20 minutes and gauging from there. When cooked the shells will be split open, and the chestnut will be golden brown.

Once the chestnuts are finished you need to peel off the shell. This can be hard, because they need to be a little warm. Let them cool just enough so that you can touch them and start peeling. Be careful!

The final result are rich, sweet, and tender chestnuts!

Roasting chestnuts was definitely an experience, but it was fun and got me in the Holiday spirit! They actually did end up tasting pretty darn good. I must admit that I would rather own a Chestnut Seatbeltbag, then roast my own chestnuts!

xoxo,
Melanie

Have you ever attempted roasting Chestnuts?

Tis' the season to show off your Santa pic!

Melanie and I were looking through some old pictures the other day and stumbled across this funny picture of Marilyn with Santa. After cracking up, Melanie and I got to thinking... it would be SO fun to see what pictures with Santa our our fans have! Then it clicked, BLOG CONTEST!

We want to see your picture with Santa! You may have a funny one of you when you were a kid, a recent one of yourself, or one of your child. Whatever Santa pic you have, we want to see it! Send your picture with Santa to info@seatbeltbags.com with the subject "Tis' the season to show off your Santa pic" and you will be entered to win a Seatbeltbag of your choice! That's right, I'll send you whatever Seatbeltbag you want (make sure it's on the website to ensure availability).

How are we going to decide the winner? I already know it's going to be WAY too hard to pick just one, so we are going to pick our 3 favorite pics! So, 3 lucky winners will win a Seatbeltbag of their choice!

Make sure you send in your pic by 12/26/12 and on 12/27/12 we will announce the 3 winners!

We can't wait to see all your pics!

V12 - Sneak Peak

The date for the release of this Ultra Limited Bag is fast approaching. In case you haven't heard, I'll bring you up to date (pun intended). On 12.12.12 Noah and HARVEYS team up to bring you a very special bag called V12 to celebrate this triple digit date. BTW this won't happen again until 2101-01-01 and who wants to wait for that?
It comes with a signed and numbered Giclee Canvas Print called "The Kid In Me" and a commemorative T-shirt.
Noah is pre-selling them HERE but hurry because there's only 12 and they're selling fast.
If you're wondering what bag that is, it's probably because it's a brand new design that we came up with so NOBODY has seen it yet. We've been working on it for almost a year and trust me it will not disappoint. We've packed it with tons of features and I can't wait to start carrying it myself.
Don't forget, everyone is invited to the release party at Noah's Studio on 12.12.12 so I hope you can make it. Click HERE for more info on the event.
