A few of us in the office are training for a 5K run to benefit a local charity.
I really needed a new pair of running shoes and wanted to find a company that makes their shoes in the USA. A quick google search brought up this video.
I'm not a big fan of all the high tech looking sneakers a lot of companies are producing but I remembered that New Balance had a very classic sneaker and was happy to find out that they still offer that style today. They call it their #574.
Before I placed my order I had a few questions so I called the customer service line. The gentleman that answered was very helpful and was able to answer all of my questions. I wanted to make sure that the pair I was buying was indeed made in the USA. As I was placing my order with him, I gave him my email address and he said, "Wait, you're Dana Harvey the maker of the Seatbeltbags". It turns out his sister-in-law is a big fan and has a very large collection of our bags. What a small world.
I got my shoes a few days later and I have to tell you, these are the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. I'm not kidding. The first time I wore them I was expecting to have a break-in period but I was pleasantly surprised. I find myself wanting to wear them all the time now, not just for running. I just placed an order for another pair. Thank you New Balance for not only making shoes in the USA but for making a darn good shoe at that. Keep up the good work.

When I was in the Navy, They issued us New Balance shoes in Bootcamp. I agree, they are really comfy! And the wear really well too. I never knew they were made in the USA, but that just makes me love them more! :)
If you can't find any shoes you like you can always do what my husband Damon does...he runs barefoot! Yes, he hears the word crazy alot!
I agree with New Balance having comfy shoes. I have a pair that I wore through Disneyland for 4 days straight. I must say they are the first pair of shoes I have ever worn there that haven't made my feet hurt. AMAZING!!! I recommend them to people when they ask for good walking shoes. Not only that, but they back their product 100%. That's what makes an amazing company.
I <3 NB! I have a few pairs and they are the only shoes I workout in! That is awesome to know they are made here! Maybe that's why they are so comfortable and last!! :D
I went to a running store just over a year ago looking for a pair of running shoes. I got a pair of New Balance, they come in WIDE! Love them!! <3
Agreed! While in Boston on vacation about 8 years ago, my feet were killing me from walking all over that town. I slipped in to a shopping center and bought a pair of NB's. I still have those sneakers today and are hands down the most comfortable I have ever owned.
For me, the biggest point was it is made in the USA. I find myself very willing to pay more for something made here. Thanks for tips about these Made-in-America shoes.
NB are the best running shoes I've had and I love that most of the styles are made in the USA. Did you do some custom color 574's? I didn't even know they had that option...time for a new pair for me! :-)
i just read an article on yahoo the other day about a few things still made in the usa (unfortunately, you guys weren't mentioned) and new balance was on the list.
my dad's a shoe buyer for a chain of stores and when I started working at a hospital, he recommended new balances for being on my feet 10+ hours a night- love them!!
