To gear up for the LTD releases tomorrow we got in the mood with two divergent yet similar films with a carnivalesque aesthetic. One is Frederico Fellini's Amarcord or I Remember, which features one of the most breath-taking scenes in any film as a peacock descends on the residents of Fascist era Italian village. It's such a simple scene but it's beauty exceeds words. The second Dumbo with one of my favorite scenes in any Disney film in which we get to see the inner states of a drunkard and some "Pink Elephants" dance across the screen.
